“Resources will dry out one day, but culture lives on.” Corporate culture is a unique name card for 3TREES, whose parks attract tens of thousands of visitors every year. People who learn about 3TREES for the first time tend to wonder about the meaning of its name and what special meaning it carries.

3TREES’s name was conceived by its founder Mr. Hong Jie, with inspiration coming from the perfect integration of the traditional philosophical thought of imitation of nature and the “great tree” spirit. “Three”, or 3, is from the line in Tao Te Ching, “Tao produced one; one produced two; two produced three; three produced all things”, and it also represents a cultural totem of healthiness, environmental friendliness, vitality and everlasting foundation. For a tree to grow to one hundred years, it needs to be genetically wired for such a long life and have the proper environment to grow in. Likewise, for a business to grow sustainably, it needs to be guided by a vision of sustainable growth and properly handle the relationship between business and environment, and between business growth and community development. A big tree is shielded by nothing but the sky, braves all weathers, and always grows while benefiting its surrounding environment, and the underlying spirit of this is also true for 3TREES which has daring to dream, embracing ideals, working hard, revering heaven and loving people, and growing constantly, as its corporate values.

Unlike most companies that introduced their corporate culture only after they have matured, from the day 3TREES was born, founder Hong Jie has seen the powerful vitality that corporate culture is capable of bringing to an enterprise. So in 2002, when the company was founded, a thin white paper was drawn up, in which the philosophy of "Imitation of Nature" was introduced to integrate culture management into the company's operations management.

With the development of the company, in 2007, the ecological culture green book, Imitation of Nature, was published, detailing the spiritual culture, institutional culture and material culture of 3TREES, and including many wonderful stories. This book, which came as the first corporate culture book in China’s coatings industry, became an immediate bestseller in the coatings community. It elucidated the cultural origin, mission, vision, development strategy and business philosophy of 3TREES from different angles. This edition had a circulation of hundreds of thousands of copies and influenced many companies. In 2017, 3TREES upgraded its corporate culture system again to reflect the new era, new market landscape and new thinking. The revised edition, which was completed over more than 100 drafts by a committee led by Hong Jie over two years, and bearing the new name of Imitation of Nature: Ecological Culture Manual of 3TREES, was published in Chinese and English, marking an important step forward of the going global of 3TREES’s corporate culture.

The corporate culture of 3TREES has not only become an inherent driver of the company’s rapid business growth but also gained wide recognition from all sectors of society.
